NOVEMBER 2012 is a <del>good</del> great month to give thanks and plan ahead! Most people and businesses in our area narrowly avoided the physical devastation of Hurricane Sandy suffered by our neighboring communities and states. Did you plan ahead of Sandy’s imminent arrival to protect yourself, your families, employees and property? Sure you did. Why? Because doing so made sense. And you knew what could happen if you didn’t do something, if our area took a direct hit. As it turned out, most in our area were, most fortunately, missed.

Most of us are fortunate in our day-to-day business lives, as well. The upheaval of a Department of Labor audit, an OSHA inspection, an Immigration, Customs and Enforcement audit. or an employee lawsuit for any myriad of actions we may (or may not!) have taken are often not in the forefront of our day-to-day concerns. Until “it” arrives. And unlike Sandy, “it” typically won’t give you a weeks-worth of advance notice.

Your business preparedness arsenal should be as inclusive as possible. Don’t wait for the storm, or the proverbial boogeyman, to show up at your door. Plan ahead. Make sure your employment practices, and the related paperwork, can pass muster. As Ben Franklin said, “An ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure.” Go to PaLawFarm.com/contact-me/ to set up your no-cost, no-obligation consultation in your office. Or, give us a call at 484-734-0378.
